This Ceylon cinnamon originates from the Gampaha District on the west coast of Sri Lanka, where it is grown naturally by a cooperative of smallholder farmers. Heavy monsoon rains flood the low-lying cinnamon fields each year as water streams from the interior toward the ocean, enriching the soil with valuable nutrients and minerals from the mountains.
Ceylon cinnamon has a delightfully sweet and subtly spicy taste. It features a floral aroma with immediately noticeable notes of fresh citrus. Compared to common Cassia cinnamon, its flavor profile is significantly finer, more subtle, and far more versatile.

The farming group belongs to the Podie cooperative, which processes and markets the farmers' cinnamon. In return, the farmers receive a price per kilogram that is roughly 15% higher than the market average. In addition, the organization regularly conducts training courses and workshops to help improve cultivation techniques.
